What is OC Knockout?

OC Knockout is an application designed for competitive fun, for all overclockers: from air cooling enthusiasts to professionals using liquid nitrogen. OCKO is backed up with a competition database right here on the ROG website, recording Battle Points won in each contest, so you can keep track of your global standings in each of the events.
One the main aims of OC KnockOut is to cultivate an interest in overclocking among newcomers and PC enthusiasts alike, so it’s been designed in a way that is easy to learn but difficult to master. The delta between the winner’s and loser’s existing Battle Points (BP) will determine how much BP gets transferred. In other words, a seasoned veteran with a huge BP would not find it rewarding to beat a low BP newcomer, while conversely if a newcomer beats a veteran, a lot of BP would go his way. The BP system is backed by graded levels and achievements users can aim for when breaking records or reaching certain BP levels.

OC KnockOut is deliberately not a benchmark: most benchmarks are designed to evaluate a PC’s performance, and overclockers use them to compete with one another to attain higher and higher scores via global leaderboards. Fundamentally these applications are not specifically designed for this purpose, meaning overclockers often have to rely on saving results and screenshots then submitting them online manually, so there are no real-time ‘races’. OCKO is designed from bottom up to fill this need in the overclocking community.
A fun challenge should be sensitive to all forms of tweaks, down to the OS setup. A good benchmark on the other hand should be insensitive to any forms of tweaks other than which it is designed to evaluate. OC KnockOut is thus a good overclocking challenge and a bad benchmark. Its main aim is to be affected by every little tweak to memory, CPU, motherboard, OS and more.It based on the Gauss–Legendre algorithm in the SuperPi software overclockers are already familiar with.
In addition it also separates Ambient Cooling and Sub-zero cooling game modes, where each player must use the same cooling setup and OCKO will enforce this rule by constantly checking the players’ processor temperatures.

Game Rules

In a manner similar to SuperPi, the game is split into many modes a user can choose from. The 32k Mode is a short sprint of 20 rounds. At the end of each round, the slowest player would be forced to level up (a bump upwards in CPU Ratio). If any player crashes from instability or drops out halfway during game play, they automatically lose the accumulated Battle Points to the final winner. The winner of the most rounds or the last man standing would take the other players’ battle points as his own.
The other modes follow the same pattern with ever reducing rounds to offset the longer compute time:
